Afowiri Kizito Fondzenyuy, known worldwide as the Toghu Marathoner, is a Guinness World Record holder, Abbott Six-Star Medalist, and global cultural ambassador. He has completed 19 marathons across 6 continents, each time proudly dressed in Cameroon’s Toghu attire, transforming long-distance running into an act of cultural diplomacy and national pride.
In July 2025, Afowiri donated his iconic Toghu outfit, marathon shoes, cap, the Guinness World Record Plaque, and the prestigious Abbott Six-Star Medal to the National Museum of Cameroon. These items now sit on display as a source of inspiration, proving to every Cameroonian that with perseverance and cultural pride, anything is possible.

Beyond running, Afowiri is the founder of the Amom Foundation, a U.S.- and Cameroon-based nonprofit that has positively impacted over 18,000 children through textbook distribution, autism advocacy, school infrastructure, and entrepreneurship training. His work consistently bridges sport, education, and social impact.
As the visionary behind the Yaoundé Cultural Marathon (YCM), Afowiri’s mission is to establish Cameroon’s signature national festival — an event that unites culture, sport, and inclusion while driving economic growth and global recognition. Guided by his conviction that unity in diversity is Cameroon’s greatest strength, Afowiri inspires citizens and diaspora communities to run not just for themselves, but for culture, inclusion, and the nation.
